Cate is a writer, community development practitioner, curator, researcher and many other things who lives in Meanjin (Brisbane) with her husband and two little boys.
Cate works for Welcoming Australia as the Queensland coordinator of Welcoming Cities and the national coordinator of Welcoming Universities, a role and organisation she absolutely loves.
Cate is also a freelance writer, writing a lot for Mamamia over the last four years, and has written for a range of other publications, and worked in freelance corporate writing, editing, and communications.
For three years and a half years Cate owned Brown’s General Store in Paddington, Brisbane. A small shop and gallery selling and exhibiting Australian craft and design, ethical fashion, beautiful books and handcrafted items.
Cate has degrees in Creative Industries, Arts Marketing and Management, Research and Human Services. She has had a creative and community focused career working in diverse roles from project development, research and development, event management to curation, marketing and media, communications and professional writing.
